Top Photo Locations in Boulder

Boulder is home to many beautiful photo spots that including them all in one blog post probably isn’t possible. Since moving here, I almost exclusively shoot outdoors with natural light because I’m constantly in awe at how beautiful it is around all the natural space and parks. Because I work with natural light, I recommend evening sessions to optimize soft, golden light that’s most flattering for skin and gives photos that dreamy, romantic feel.

There are different reasons why I like each of these locations but each of these spots are located within 30 minutes of Boulder and don’t require an extensive hike making them a great option for an engagement photo session. These locations fall under Boulder OSMP jurisdiction, which requires a photography permit. I will handle all the logistics of permits and the cost of your session does cover that fee.

01. Flatiron Vista

02. NCAR

03. Chautauqua & Lost Gulch

While these are two separate locations and can be booked independently, I like to provide the option of pairing them together for a 2 hour shoot. Since Chautauqua requires only a short walk from the parking lot it’s very possible to start your session there and then make the short drive up Flagstaff Road to catch the last bits of sunset from the overview at Lost Gulch.

04. Wonderland Lake

05. Greenbelt Plateau

06. Parks

There are several parks throughout Boulder that serve as an amazing option without stepping foot on a trail. Parks are a great option for those with mobility concerns or if I anticipate a shoot with a lot of running and sitting in the grass - as it’s a requirement to remain on trail when in trail systems. Most of these locations fall under the city of Boulder jurisdiction and require a separate permit that can take up to 14 days for approval. Permits are free to secure and I will handle all the logistics but dates will need to be planned accordingly to account for this step.
